A piece of lolita related or othervise pretty art work would be very cute especially a framed piece. If one can't draw very well there are hundreds of artist online that sell prints or even originals in fairly good prices. 

Maruka illustration has charming lolita themed prints for even more macabre tastes. I really love the Playtime not Over-print.
Little tree sprout: Really cute illustrations of different kinds. I especially like the pencil sketch styles she has.

Tea or anything related

Tea is always a good gift. There is endless options to suit even the pickiest taste and any budget. And if the giftee has already quite a collection of delicious teas there is always a chance of delighting her with pretty cup or tea service.

Tea for All Reasons has a wonderful selection of cleverly named teas which would definitely satisfy any picky taste. Their Downton abbey collection is especially enticing.
Dammann Freres A traditional French tea house with very nice blends. My favourite tea was from this house but it was discontinued. The online shop only takes credit cards.
Romancing the teapot carries charming lace patterned teapots and cups. Their tea for one sets are truly charming.

Accessories

There are never enough good accessories. Jewelry, head thingies and anything small and frille will surely please any frilly lady.

Closet Child is the classic place to get anything lolita related, used and at a reasonable price. You might not find exactly what you are looking for but the selection is wide.
Lily of the Valley Charming jewelry and headpieces and nice gloves. Her jewelry is really charming and quite well made.

Recently I purchased the lovely Bat shoes from Cloudberry lady and I must say they are absolutely fabulous. The shoes are leather and hand made in Finland. The design is just so wonderfully gothy and whimsical without being utterly stompy. There is this daintiness in them I like a lot. I love them.

As the season premiere of the My little pony Friendship is Magic is rolling around quite soon I decided that this would be the perfect time to take some fashion inspiration from the most regal of all Ponies the four Alicorn princesses.

Princess Celestia

Princess Celestia is the benevolent ruler of Equestria and the princess of the day. Her reign spans hundreds maybe thousands of years. She is also responsible of bringing up the day by raising the sun. She is kind, warm, wise and has a mischievous streak.

Stylewise princess Celestia is very regal in a very comfortable way. Her colours are soft bright pastels and lovely radiant whites. She seems to be the universal mother figure of the ponykind and as such her look is very approachable.

For Princess Celestia I chose a pale white dress with pastel coloured blouse, bolero and stockings. To make her royal status clear, she wears a golden crown, shoes and a sun pendant to connect with her celestial charge. As you can see I chose to not use wigs so my primary inspiration were her colours.

Princess Luna / Nightmare moon

Princess Luna is the sister of Celestia who succumbed to her jealousy and was turned in to the evil mare of Darkness, Nightmare moon who wished to bring about eternal night. Celestia was forced to banish her in to the moon for a thousand years. Now she has returned and redeemed by the elements of harmony. Her duties include bringing the night by raising the moon and soothing ponies' nigthtmares by offering her wisdom via dream walking.

As the princess of the nigth Luna's style is darker and a good bit colder than Celestia's. Even if she is smaller in stature her presence is more imposing in the world of mostly pastel coloured subjects.
As the Nigthmare she was even more dark, cold and imposing choosing to wear armour instead of regalia the princesses usually prefere.

I chose to do both, Luna and Nightmare. Both would were high heeled boots and a moon shaped pendant but show their differences with their other choises. To add to their mystery as beings of the night I had them wear masks. Luna's mask shows the beuaty of the moon where Nightmare's is dark, and twisted, a horror of the moonless night. Their material choices are different as well. Luna's dress is floaty light chiffon where Nightmare wears something hard, almost leathery.

Princess Cadence

Cadence or Princess Mia Amora Cadenza is the princess of Love and The Crystal Princess of the Crystal Empire. She is kind in a more youthful big sisterly way than Celestia. She ascended to alicornhood when she fully grasped the magic of love and became the adopted niece of Celestia.  In her wedding to Shining Armour their combined love defeated the queen of the Changelings and her army. Now they live in and rule the Crystal Empire.

Cadence's style is befittingly pink for the princess of Love. As an alicorn she is quite a lot younger than Luna or Celestia and thusly more normal looking as ponies go. Her mane is not a wild mass of swirling magic but normal like every other pony though as the Crystal princess she may use some gems to decorate it.

For Cadence I chose a onepiece dress with a soft pink hue. She would wear a crown decorated with heartshaped gems and add roses in her hair. I also chose to include the crystal heart pendant to show of her status as the Crystal Princess.

Princess Twilight

Twiligth Sparkle is the newest princess of Equestria, once pupil of Celestia and quite bookish. She is not quite comfortable in her role yet and thusly not quite as confident as the other princesses. Her ascendance to alicornhood came from friendship and her role in Equestria is still quite uncertain.

As the newest of the princesses I would venture a guess that Twiligth would be a very classic princess, choosing safer option with the help of her fashionista friend Rarity. She would still hold on to a bit of her neat style suited for librarian and a student.

For Twilight I chose a less formal dress as she isn't quite accustomed to her new status. Her crown is more of headband showing of the shape of her cutiemark. Twilight would wear some well chosen jewelery maybe on the insistence of Rarity. Her choice of dress is quite practical ( it has pockets!) accordance to her logical personality.

Bonus round: Queen Chrysalis

Chrysalis is Queen of the Changelings a race of ponylike beings with some added attributes from the world of insects. They feed on love and can take a form of anypony to syphon off the love of those closest to their victim. In the wedding of Princess Cadence and Shining Armour, Chrysalis took the form of Cadence to lead an invasion of Equestria which promptly failed as Twiligth freed the real Cadence ableing her and Shining Armour to defeat the Queen.

Chrysalis is the creepiest thing the show has thrown out so far. She is about the size of Celestia with holes on her hooves and a jagged mallformed horn and seaweedlike green hair. Her style thusly is quite dark with colour palette of black and sickly greens.

With Chrysalis I chose to go a little bit more punk as befits a queen of the Badlands come to fight for dominance of Equestria. To corrolate with her insectoid wings she would wear a dragonfly pendant and soft floaty fabrics. Torn stockings give her outfit some approriate edge.

Neckwarmer  I chose this one because currently I am having a terrible cold and having somethin like this would be certainly lovely. It is also very cute and appropriate to the coming autumn and winter days. And yes I am talking about those in the middle of summer.

Green knigth dress by I do declare. I have liked this dress since it first came out but have always found something else to buy. Well maybe someday I will pick this one up too.

An epic hat I happen to love epic hat and this one certainly is epic. The feathers give it a nice old wordly look which would make it a gorgeus addition to any Gothic lolita or aristocrat look.

Necklace with a skull because did you really think we would get away with a post without atleast one skull themed accessory. Anyways I love skulls. They are macabre, charming and beautiful in an otherworldly way and thusly this necklace is one of my picks for today.

Pumpkin teapot Isn't it fairytale like? I simply love the whimsicalness of this teapot. It would look perfect in any somewhat mad hatter-type or Harry Potter themed teaparty.

On lifestyle

 Ever since I got interested in lolita I knew I would be a lifestyle girl eventually. My idols were people like princess Skye who used to host the blog Princess portal or the Addam's family (Yes, they are goths but you can't say they arent't lifestylers). I loved and still love old fashioned manners, tea and all things beautiful and frilly. To me lolita is an important part of my way of life and as such I take it as a lifestyle.

To me being a lifestyler means first and foremost to always better oneself through reading, art and concentration on beutiful things and ideas. It means to be civilized, to be a fine lady. I know that in lolita one defines the lifestyle for oneself. If wearing pretty clothes and feeling pretty occasionally is lolita lifestyle for you by all means continue. The more there are pretty girls in the world the better.

I've already mentioned a couple of things that I feel make up my version of lolita lifestyle but feel that I could open some aspects of my lifestyle a bit more. No I haven't picked tea I believe there is more than enough said about that (and plenty more to come but that is another post). I hope these things will inspire anyone out there who is even a bit interested on lifestyle lolita.

Home decor is one of the things I consider to be utmost importance in my lifestyle. I wish to exist in a space that is aestheticly pleasing. To mwe that means antique and victorian details. I love planning new additions to our home with dear flowerthief and I love to organize the little details we both enjoy. Finding new decor inspiration is always a joy and dreaming what one would do if one could is an exercise I gladly partake. Currently I'm dreaming of a set of fluffy gorgeus pillows for our day bed... Maybe something I could embroider?

One of the most important parts of my lifestyle is reading. For lolitas I always recommend the classics and lifestories of insprational historical figures, but I read other things too. A whole lot of other things. One never knows where inspiration migth be lurking so having an open mind about reading is always a good thing. In this summer reading list I have things from classic authors such as Kennet Grahame to Star wars books and ofcourse fairytales. Reading for me is very calming and choosing some loliable authors can be and is fun. If nothing else Novala will always work, at least for me.

Speaking of Novala, I don't care what he says about friends but I couldn't be happy without mine. I think lolita is a social thing too. Picnics and teaparties with one's dolls and bears migth look nice on photoshoots but teaparties and picnics wit your equally frilly friends creates a bubble of lolitaness one can't but love. Talking about the newest brand releases, types of lace and actually about anything in life makes lolita feel much better. Even when one lives far away. That is why I have taken up letter writing again. It feels somewhat romantic to sit down to one's vanitytable and pick up a pen and some nice letter paper and write down your thougths for someone else to comment on her next letter. And letters are of course lovely to receive.

Culture and history mean a lot to me, weither it is a movie from my favorite director or visit to the local history museum. Personally I think culture lifts ones spirit and refreshes the mind opening new worlds and ideas. As a seamstress such inspiration is always wanted. culture for me is very simple, even something like reading old fairytales can be considered culture. And of course as a lolita I do love my fairytales. After all isn't making your life in to a fairytale in the core of every lolita?

When I was first starting out "Princess days" were a big deal for me. I lived far away from any other lolitas from my country so when ever I had one it made me feel especially lolita. I wore my favorite clothes (far fewer back then) and visited my favorite cafes and shops and generally did things that made me happy. I highly recommend this concept weither one chooces to have a cup of luxurious tea in her favorite cafe or a teahouse, or opts for a luxurious hot bath with her favorite scent. Feeling good is definetly an important part of any lifestyle.

Kerran tai kahdesti aiemmin olen puhunut teestä, tässä blogissa. Nyt ajattelin että on kolmannen kerran aika. Tällä kertaa emme kuitenkaan keskity teelaatujen eroavaisuuksiin tai parhaimpaan haudutuslämpötilaan vaan teekaluston ihmeelliseen maailmaan. Teekalustoja on monenlaisia. Omat suosikkini ovat hyvin klassisia ja koristeellisia mutta modernejakin versioita löytyy.

I have talked of tea one or two times before, but now I felt it was a time for a third visit to the subject. This time however we shall not discuss different varieties or the correct tempatures. No, today we shall discuss tea sets. There are many different types of tea sets. My personal favorites can be discribed as classic and romantic and maybe a bit frivolous but there are modern options.

Teekaluston alku on teekannussa. Teekannu on useimmiten matala ja pyöreä. Korkeat kannut on tarkoitettu kahville tai kaakaolle mutta jos mallista pitää niin mikään ei nykypäivänä estä käyttämästä sellaista. Paras teekannu on posliinia vaikka rikkaissa perheissä käytettiinkin hopeaa entisaikaan. Posliini ei anna teelle mitään lisämakua ja kestää kuuman veden vaikutukset hyvin. Myös lasinen kannu on erinomainen valinta materiaalinen suhteen.

The beginning of a tea set is a tea pot. Tea pots are mostly shallow and roundly shaped. Those high pots are most often used with coffee or hot chocolate, but if this model pleases your eye, nothing prevents you from using it with tea too. Best teapot is made out of porcelain, even if the fine families of old used silver. Porcelain does not give any excess flavours and takes the effects of hot water well. A glass pot is also a good option.

After teacups and a pot one will be able to have tea with much elegance and grace but at this point who would stop collecting! There are endless possibilieties with sugar dishes, creamers, tea spoons, dessert forks, serwing dishes, food saucers, sugar tongs, tea streamers and so on. Collecting a tea set is an endless mission, which I enjoy greatly.

Just reliezed, very funny comic with an ironic look to the life of a lolita. My favorite character is the classic lolita. She has the same sort of need to be serious explainer as I have.

Michelle Phan meikkitutoriaalisivusto on ihana. Erilaisia tyylejä on vaikka muille jakaa. Omaan goottilaiseen makuuni sopivat Tim Burton-look ja vampyyri-look muiden muassa, mutta sweettareitakaan ei ole unohdettu.

Michelle Phan's make up tutorials are awesome. She has a different style to suit everyones taste. My own gothic tendensies prefere Tim Burton and Vampire looks but don't worry sweet lolitas, there's things you can use too.

Ensin näet sen kauniin jalokiven lailla kimaltavan pullon, joka on kuin pieni veistos, pala taidetta. Kätesi ojentuu pullon kristallin lailla kimaltelevaa korkkia kohden. Se napsahtaa auki niin herkästi niin hellästi. Yksi suihkaus ja ympärilläsi kukkii kokonainen tarha kukkia, tai tunnet merituulen hyväilevän tuoksun, oman tuoksusi. Tämä on parfyymi joka on tarkoitettu vain sinua varten. Hinnalla ei ole väliä. Ympäristön mielipiteellä ei ole väliä, sinun on saatava se.

Tuolta minusta tuntui kun kokeilin ensimmäistä kertaa omaa suosikki parfyymiäni, Diorin Pure poisonia. Pullo hohteli kuin helmiäinen ja tuoksu on hyvin goottilainen ja elegantti. Se ylläni tunnen itseni keveän naiselliseksi ja salaperäiseksi. Toisin sanoen tunnen tuoksun täydentävän tyyliäni.

Parfyymiä tai hajuvettä voi käyttää usealla tavalla. Oma tapani on suihkausta korkeintaan kaksi suihkausta ranteeseen ja hieroa ranteita yhteen ja lisäksi yksi suihkaus kaulalle.
Toiset suosivat tapaa jossa hajuvesi suihkaistaan ilmaan ja sitten kävellään sen muodostaman pilven lävitse. Tämä tapa antaa hyvin keveän tuoksun ja sopii tilanteisiin joissa kohdataan runsaasti ihmisiä, esimerkiksi elokuviin tai teatteriin.

Tuoksua valitessa tuli ottaa huomioon ainakin se että hajuvesi muuttuu levätessään iholla. Toisin sanoen jos tuoksu on ensimmäisen kymmenen minuutin ajan taivaallinen sekoitus ruusuja ja vaniljaa, se saattaa olla kahden tunnin päästä hirveä keitos märän koiran tuoksua ja navettaa. Onkin suositeltavaa suihkauttaa hiukan valitsemaasi tuoksua ranteelle ja antaa sen olla muutaman tunnin ajan ennen ostopäätöksen tekemistä. Tuoksua varmasti löytyy seuraavanakin päivänä.
Ja jos tuoksu muistuttaakin illalla koiranläjän tuoksua niin, virheostosta ei ole vielä tehty ja tuoksun etsintä voidaan aloittaa jälleen alusta.

Needs moar personality!

Eräänä kauniina päivänä jokaisen lolitan elämässä tulee aika kun he huomaavat että ei tämä riitäkään, minä tahdon lisää persoonaa asuihini. Tuolloin lolita katsoo kaappiinsa joka on täynnä ihania pitsimekkoja ja huokaa lempihamosensa edessä "Needs MOAR personality..."
Lolitasta tuntuu että juuri hänen on keksittävä jotain uutta ja kiinnostavaa jota kellään muulla ei ole. Hän alkaa epätoivoisesti kaivella asustelaatikkoaan ja heitää kaikki päänsyöjärusettinsa, helmipantansa, minisiliterinsä ja head dressinsä huoneensa lattialle. Korurasia kanssa käy samoin. Lopulta lolita istuu keskellä kaaoksen vallassa olevan huoneensa lattiaa ja alkaa miettiä.

Aluksikin on unohdettava muutamia lolitan sääntöjä. Kaiken ei tarvitse olla saman värin eri sävyjä eikä jokaista väriä tarvitse olla kolmea kappaletta per asu. Missmatch ei ole rikos. Miten olisi esimerkiksi kokovalkoinen asu jossa olisi vaikkapa yksi fuksianpunainen yksityiskohta?

Seuraavaksi unohdetaan perinteiset lolitavaatteiden hankintapaikat. Emme siis käänny heti brändin tai tunnettujen lolitavaatevalmistajien puoleen. Sen sijaan lähdemme käsityöläisten myyjäisiin tai liikkeisiin, kirpputoreille ja kaupungin pikkuputiikkeihin. Tutkimme mitä erilaisimpia nettisivuja ja teemme asioita itse.

Ja hitaasti asustekokoelma alkaa karttua. Uskallus karttuu sen rinnalla. Opimme yhdistämään asuihimme yhä erikoisempia asioita ja kehitämme kykyämme luoda itse jotain erityistä.
