My teaset: Asian red set with a fan-like pattern

 It's time to get back to my teaset-series. This time I chose to show you the Asian red set. I have three sets of cup, saucer, and a serving plate. It's actually one of my favorite sets and very dfferent from my other ones. 

 I bougth this set from the Vallila fleamarket, years ago and had the misfortune of shattering one of the plates while getting it home. Flowerthief fortunately glued it together so it is still usable.

This cup has a really simple shape which is counteracted by a very intricate pattern which covers the cup entirely, inside and out. The colour is reddish orange and is lined with gilding, making the patter even lovelier. The pattern and the bold colours give this set a really Edwardian feel which I like. 

In the center of the cup and plates is a black area covered with a gilded net and dots. The black balances the red shades of the set nicely. 

The handle of the cup is black with gold detailing tying it nicely to the other black accents of this set. It has an elegant curve though it is quite small making it harder to use than the handles of the lomonosov sets.

As you can see the bigger plate is less vibrant than the smaller one giving it a calmer, less strong appearance. It also has more black in it than the other pieces of this set.

Here is the stamp of this set. It is clearly Asian, probably Chinese as Japanese stamps feature mount Fuji. If someone can tell me more about I would be glad to hear. The cups don't have stamps.

It's a pitty that there are only three cups in this set for I don't get to use it too often with my friends. So I tend to use this set when I am having tea on my own.  It somehow works nicely with my glass teapot.

Guess what I did today?

Flowerthief loves his weird angles. I must admit it's quite cute...

So yesterday I returned from Easter in Joensuu. Yes I visited Mokkamaa again, no you're not getting any pictures (well maybe one. About my dog. And not in this post.) Anyways I of course did what I always do which means once again I went to the library! (I should really think other places to wear lolita... Maybe the museum).

I went for a sort of an old schoolish look today. Black and white is such a classic combination and the blouse just fits old school style quite perfectly.

I wore:

Shirt: Baby the stars shine bright

Necklace: Ofelia market, I can't remeber the shop though.

Dress: Juliette & Justine

Stockings: Sokos
Shoes: Gabor

And I did my nails too. I like this style a lot.

La bibliothèque

It was once again time for a visit to the library. And once again I dressed up. I have said it many time but I will say it once more. To me libraries are a great place of inspiration. I absolutely love reading and books. Books are cool. Today I pickedsome moomins (in french because I need to practice), some regency era zombies and of course some wee free men. My tastes are a bit eclectic... Oh well.

I wore:

Hellocon: Fashion show pictures and video

So couple of weeks ago I attended Hellocon the first lolita specific convention in Finland. It was lovely! I was a model for one of the fashion shows and found the other program infinitely interesting, especially the lolita and feminisism panel.

Here is my show outfit. I wore:

Lolita blog carnival: My favorite type of accessory.

Yes, it is the parasol. I absolutely love parasols. They are elegant, ladylike and romantic. Most of my parasols douple as umbrellas so they are rather practical too (If I only used them as umbrellas :p). The parasol has this old fashioned elegance to it which gives a new kind of charming air to any outfit.

My other favorite type of accessory is the hat. I love bonnets, cloches, berets and so on. I think hat gives and outfit a mature, demure look that can't be achieved by a traditional headdress or a bow. Also it gives more protection from the elements which can be pretty brutal in Finland.

Lolita blog carnival: Spring wishes about lolita.

I really had to think about this one as I don't really like spring, although I must admit that I love some accessories that the warming weather allows. I love parasols and fans, and of course huge hats, for they all give an outfit an antiqueted air. But once again I have lost myself to tangent so let's get to business

This spring I hope lolita sifts toward a more elegant, calm and collected mode. I would like to see simple florals, all over lace fabrics and stripes and cute elegance of yesteryear. I have really fallen back in love with some old school favorites even though modern lolita has its charms too. Generally a move toward classic lolita would be utterly lovely.

In itemsvise I'd love to see more jackets as they are both cute and elegant and simply to awesome to leave in to shadows. A jacket gives a mature air to any outfit, especially with a large bowtie blouse. Jackets should really be seen more often. I have already two jackets so atleast in my spring wardrobe, they will be a staple. Other things I'd like to see make an appereance are two toned ankle boots which are in my opion quite adorable, full sized hats (other than berets) and neutrally coloured tigths with simple patterns.

Other than fashion I would love to see more events as Helsinki Lolita convention was such a success. Something like the great teapartys we see around the world, or other fun get togethers or meet-ups. Maybe I'll organize one again.

As for my personal style I wish to continue adding classical elements to my look and balancing them with my macabre accessories and more gothic tastes.
